LA CANADA -- There's a lot of excitement at California DanceArts as students are flying through the air during the dance academy's newest class offering: Aerial Ballet. Climbing up nylon scarves, students fly, twist and turn in the air, learning and mastering the basic moves of Aerial Ballet with instructor Rachel Bowman, using the same type of techniques as are used in Cirque du Soleil.

Part of their diverse and expanding curriculum, along with Tap Dance and Pain Free Motion Therapy classes, Aerial Ballet enables California DanceArts to bring more dance educational opportunities to students in the community.

The school?s schedule of classes includes ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, acrobatics and conditioning, all taught by top-quality dance instructors. Specialty classes—boys only, teens, adult, pre-ballet, and fairy tale ballet for preschoolers—are integral parts of the curriculum, along with an established classical ballet program focusing on proper technique and artistic expression. Class sizes are limited to ensure personal attention, enhancing student progress.

Director Erin Holt touts the success of several career-motivated students and alumni, many earning entry into prestigious universities and dance companies. Holt states, ?Professional quality instruction promotes knowledge, skill and appreciation of the arts, and artists and artistic expression in turn enhance our community and culture. Even brand new students benefit from this quality instruction?.

Holt is artistic director of California Theatrical Youth Ballet, the school?s associated non-profit dance company. CTY Ballet invites the community to participate in its popular annual Snow Queen Ballet, an original ballet featuring an original musical score, beautiful handmade costumes, and elaborate sets, performed at Glendale Community College Theatre each December.
