A new action I’m doing for Search Engine Optimization for several clients is to rewrite the text on their webpages using AI. The purpose is to make the pages rank higher in search engines for the selected keywords. This is having good results.

Of course, to start with you have to do keyword research and choose the right keywords that you want to rank for. What you want is keywords that have a decent amount of monthly searches, but not too many other sites competing for them. You want to avoid keywords with tons of competition because you’ll never be able to rank for them. If the business serves only a local area, you include top keywords including the city name.

Then I use specialized AI software that takes a given webpage, and ranks it on a 1-100 scale for how well it will do for the keywords selected. It produces a substantial list of related keywords, and the rating goes up as you add more of the selected and related keywords to the text. The software also has a feature to auto-optimize the text.

One aspect of this is the word count on the page. Hubspot says that the optimum word count for a webpage for SEO purposes is 2,100-2,400 words. Other sources say 500-800 words. The point is that higher word counts will result in better search rankings. So 100-200 words on a page is not enough.

By taking existing webpages, and increasing the word count, and working with the AI software to increase the ranking it gives to the page into the 70s, 80s, or 90s, I am seeing increased ranking on search engines across several client websites, as well as on my own site.

I run a rankings report that takes a list of keyword phrases and sees how well the site ranks for each keyword, on Google, Yahoo and Bing. The report only goes up to the 50th place for each keyword. One client went from having no number 1 keywords, 3 ranking in the top 10 positions, 13 in the top 20, and 44 in the top 50, 6 months ago; to 4 number 1 positions, 23 top 10, 41 top 20, and 71 top 50, 6 months later. Other sites are seeing similar results in improved rankings.

This works best if it is part of a comprehensive SEO strategy.
