Nine months ago I published an article listing the major marketing concerns for small business owners, according to polls. This questions was posed to Bard, Google’s AI.
This is an updated of that same question, this time posed to ChatGPT.
“Small business owners in 2024 face multiple marketing challenges, many of which stem from the rapid changes in technology, social media trends, and customer expectations. Some of the top concerns include:
- “Content Creation and Consistency: Many small businesses struggle with consistently producing high-quality, engaging content. The need to capture audience attention quickly is pressing, as consumer attention spans shorten. Business owners are often unsure how to create content that stands out and aligns with their brand without becoming overwhelming to manage.
- “Multi-Channel Strategy: Maintaining a presence across multiple platforms is crucial, but it’s also challenging. Owners are concerned about spreading their resources too thin by trying to stay active on all channels. Strategic channel selection and customized messaging are vital, but knowing where to focus can be difficult with the ever-evolving social media landscape.
- “Navigating Social Media Trends: Platforms are constantly changing, with new entrants like Threads emerging and others like TikTok maintaining a strong presence. Many small business owners feel pressure to keep up with these trends, unsure which platforms will be most beneficial for their target audiences.
- “Adapting to New Technologies: With tools like AI and the transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), small business owners find it challenging to stay updated with technology that could enhance their marketing. They’re often unsure how to use these tools effectively or if they’re worth the investment.
- “Performance Measurement: Tracking and measuring the success of marketing campaigns is another significant hurdle. Many small businesses lack clarity on the right metrics or tools to gauge their marketing impact effectively. This issue is compounded by the limited time and resources that small businesses typically have for data analysis.
“Overcoming these challenges often requires a blend of strategic focus, prioritizing certain platforms, and staying informed about new technologies and marketing trends. Leveraging resources like marketing workshops or consulting can also help small business owners manage these marketing complexities more effectively.”
And by the way, you have to be careful how you word questions to any of the AI services. If you just ask what are the major concerns of small business owners on marketing, it will give you answers that come from articles or blogs, and could be just someone’s opinion. So if you want to find out what a certain is thinking, you have to include in your question that the source should be from polls or surveys.
